Theatre goers can enjoy a double bill of two modern-day comedies this month as St Vincent’s Dramatics Society prepare to stage their next production.
From opening night on Wednesday 5th to Saturday 8th November, the theatre company will present two very disparate one-act plays, both productions by arrangement with Stagescripts Ltd.
“Branching Out”, written by Keith Trezise, is set in the woods, with a tree condemned by the road developer's axe, and three intrepid eco-warriors arriving in the tree to start their protest. However, each has his or her own private reason for being there.
Pauline is up the tree for the tree; Derek is up the tree for Rachel; Rachel is up the tree for herself.
This is followed by “Dirty Business”, written by Derek Webb, which is set at the local county council where spending cuts are on their way.
