Ann is a prize-winning writer. As amateurs, she and Lesley Bown won the Derek Lomas Playwriting Competition and have been successful in competitions run by the Windsor Fringe, Show of Strength and Southwest Scriptwriters.

As a result of all this amateur success, they were offered a book contract and have written 'Write A Play And Get It Performed' and 'Get Your Articles Published'.
