Genre: Comedic Drama

Cast size: 2

Duration: 40 mins approx

Nicolas Ridley | Comedic Drama | One Act | 2f

Short synopsis

It's been ages since Lois and Gina last met and they've missed each other. Their 'misunderstanding' was very unfortunate, but sex isn't everything. The past is the past and for now there's momentous news to share. Let bygones be bygones. Water under the bridge. Forgive and forget...? Well, maybe.

In some ways Gina and Lois are very much the same. In other ways, they couldn’t be more different.

Gina is a career woman whose company provides ‘high-level digital solutions to meet low-level logistical challenges’ – although she may not be entirely sure what this means. Her new boss, James, is causing her problems and it’s plain that she’s more than a little stressed.

Lois has a low-level job in a department whose function is to answer the telephone and listen to customers’ complaints – although the main customer complaint is that no one answers the telephone. As a consequence, she feels worthless and undervalued.

But Gina and Lois have been friends for years and, until recently, have always had each other to lean on. However, it’s been several months now since they last had coffee together. The reason? The ‘misunderstanding’ over Bruno.

No matter. Bruno’s the past. That episode is dead and buried. Water under the bridge. Forgiven and forgotten. Or is it? In any case, the big news is that Gina is engaged. And so, it seems, is Lois. A double wedding is in prospect …

But there’s a problem. Could it be that Gina and Lois are both engaged to Quentin?

What begins as a light comedy becomes darker as the balance of the relationship between Gina and Lois changes and, in the end, with the final denouement, everything turns inky black.

Set in a coffee shop, with simple props and sound effects, the play is easy to stage and offers a wonderful opportunity for the actresses playing Gina and Lois to explore their talents for comedy and dramatic interaction.

Frequently asked questions

Can we try before we buy?

Of course! All our plays and pantomimes have a free Preview Script available for download as an A4 pdf file that contains 60-75% of the full script. If you like what you read then you can buy an inexpensive e-script of the entire play (typically less than half the cost of a traditional printed script) which is licensed to you for your personal use. Purchasing a script copying licence allows you to make just enough copies to support rehearsals and performances.

All our musicals are included in our perusal service. Through this, representatives of producing organisations can request a USB Stick of perusal material  which comprise the script/libretto and piano/vocal score as PDF files; a Cast (or Studio) Recording as MP3 files and (where available) an MP4 file video of either the premiere production or of a subsequent production.

Some titles have the facility to read the entire script online on our website.

Do we need a Licence To Perform?

The simple answer is, yes.

Under the international laws of copyright, you must be in possession of a valid, unexpired licence before performing any piece of theatre unless the owner or managers of the copyright has waived their rights.

Why do you insist on providing a formal royalties quotation?

When you request a quotation, it is logged in our system, it forms part of an orderly queue and protects your place in that queue should multiple licensing requests occur for the same show.
