Duration: Two Act

Colin Barrow | Pantomime | 2m, 3f, 7m/f + Chorus

Short synopsis

This script encaptures the story of Sinbad the Sailor with an easy approach.

Sinbad is in love with Princess Yasmeen, the Sultans daughter. On the cusp of asking the Sultan to consent to their marriage, Sinbad gets a tempting letter and map that could make his fortune by doing this one final voyage. Princess Yasmeen is not keen, but accepts the situation and gives Sinbad a special amulet to keep him safe. This amulet proves to be his saviour more than once during his journey to the, ‘Land of Make Believe’ in search of the ‘Great Valley of Paradise’. With a crew that includes his brother, Stitchup and Mother, mayhem ensues.

Sinbad finds the Valley and encounters the Old Man of the Sea (villain) who shows Sinbad the wealth of gems but has plans not to let Sinbad remove any of them, in fact he plans to bring Sinbad to his death! But the amulet once again saves the day for Sinbad to return home with a ship full of gem stones and a very wealthy man. This means that not only on Sinbad’s return does the Sultan consent the marriage to his daughter, but the Sultan decides to bite the bullet and marry Mrs.Sinbad. But it also seems, Stitchup and Zalida have found romance after she kissed him on the lips behind a bush which shocked Stitchup who thought it was really rude. So Stitchup says “now they got to get married!”

More information

Within the mixture of scenes, there is only one scene on board the ‘Persian Star’ and the scene dictates dressing to your own discretion, available space and budgets. You can make that scene as elaborate as you wish or just with simple indication that the scene is on board ship.

Just for a change there is no ship wreck which seems to happen with many
scripts that includes ship scenes. Likewise, the script avoids some of the
usual ship routines with something a little different. This is also echoed on
the Island of, ‘Make Believe’ in the ‘Grand Valley of Paradise’. Only Sinbad,
the chorus (if you have one) the Fairy and the Old Man of the Sea make their appearance on the island. This gives something a little different for the
viewer and performers alike.

This is an easy script to produce in any venue and size which can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Whatever your budget, this is a great fun pantomime delivering all the glitz and sparkle that’s expected.

Frequently asked questions

Can we try before we buy?

Of course! All our plays and pantomimes have a free Preview Script available for download as an A4 pdf file that contains 60-75% of the full script. If you like what you read then you can buy an inexpensive e-script of the entire play (typically less than half the cost of a traditional printed script) which is licensed to you for your personal use. Purchasing a script copying licence allows you to make just enough copies to support rehearsals and performances.

All our musicals are included in our perusal service. Through this, representatives of producing organisations can request a USB Stick of perusal material  which comprise the script/libretto and piano/vocal score as PDF files; a Cast (or Studio) Recording as MP3 files and (where available) an MP4 file video of either the premiere production or of a subsequent production.

Some titles have the facility to read the entire script online on our website.

Do we need a Licence To Perform?

The simple answer is, yes.

Under the international laws of copyright, you must be in possession of a valid, unexpired licence before performing any piece of theatre unless the owner or managers of the copyright has waived their rights.

Why do you insist on providing a formal royalties quotation?

When you request a quotation, it is logged in our system, it forms part of an orderly queue and protects your place in that queue should multiple licensing requests occur for the same show.
