Short synopsis

A new comedy set in a London flat, this show has all the classic elements of a British farce but updated for today’s audience. This high energy comedy entertains through exaggerated and improbable situations.

Licensed by Stagescripts in the UK and Overseas (except USA)
The American Version of this play 'Condo-Monium' is licensed in the USA by Ovation

A modern-day comedy about real estate, mice and adultery.   Set in a crumbling block of South Kensington flats overrun by vermin, leaking pipes and scheming property developers. When Angela borrows her friend's flat for a romantic assignation with an eminent KC, she hopes for an afternoon to remember. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what she gets!  Throw into the mix an ambitious junior estate agent, his girlfriend accomplice, a cross-dressing ex-banker, an over-zealous cleaner and a dodgy fountain pen salesman, who returns from Florida minus his partner, and the perfect scenario is set for an outrageous tale of mayhem, mistaken identities and some rather suspicious breakfast cereal.

"A ★★★★★ exercise in The Art of Farce!"
The Review Chap

★★★★ "Jennifer Selway’s exceedingly clever writing is maximised by a cast able to expertly tease out every laugh possible".
Steven Fall, The Spy In The Stalls

"The dialogue is very tight, with no wasted words, and unlike many farces, is set in the present. Fast-paced and excellently cast and performed, it deals with a wide range of modern topics, including Brexit, tube strikes, sexual morality, scheming, unscrupulous estate agents, east European cleaners, social class, London’s housing problems and redundancy, to mention just a few. But what really sets it apart is the humour, which is non-stop from start to finish, where it culminates in a hilarious, happy ending for seven and a rather less happy ending for one." Eileen Morrison, Camden New Journal

★★★★ “A new comedy/farce which had the audience guffawing from the off. Fast-paced, witty and tremendous fun. British farce at its best with all the classic elements but updated for a modern audience. The writing is easily as good as 'The Play that Goes Wrong' by Mischief Theatre. Jennifer Selway’s writing is clever, funny and up to date”
Rebecca Swann, Sardines

★★★★ "Jennifer Selway has taken the classic ingredients of farce – adultery, cross dressing, lost trousers and venal servants – given them a stir and delivered a really road worthy piece".
William Russell, Reviews Gate

"Jennifer Selway assembles the traditional ingredients for her updated take on the classic 1970s farce. The script handles the mechanics of its complicated plot well (particularly a satisfyingly funny extended ending) without quite convincing as a modern take on an old genre. Characteristic of an Ovation production directed by John Plews the
mechanics of this are super-smooth"
David Weir, London Pub Theatres

Frequently asked questions

Can we try before we buy?

Of course! All our plays and pantomimes have a free Preview Script available for download as an A4 pdf file that contains 60-75% of the full script. If you like what you read then you can buy an inexpensive e-script of the entire play (typically less than half the cost of a traditional printed script) which is licensed to you for your personal use. Purchasing a script copying licence allows you to make just enough copies to support rehearsals and performances.

All our musicals are included in our perusal service. Through this, representatives of producing organisations can request a USB Stick of perusal material  which comprise the script/libretto and piano/vocal score as PDF files; a Cast (or Studio) Recording as MP3 files and (where available) an MP4 file video of either the premiere production or of a subsequent production.

Some titles have the facility to read the entire script online on our website.

Do we need a Licence To Perform?

The simple answer is, yes.

Under the international laws of copyright, you must be in possession of a valid, unexpired licence before performing any piece of theatre unless the owner or managers of the copyright has waived their rights.

Why do you insist on providing a formal royalties quotation?

When you request a quotation, it is logged in our system, it forms part of an orderly queue and protects your place in that queue should multiple licensing requests occur for the same show.
