An estate agent, a pantomime cow, a business-man and his flirty secretary all find themselves in the same living room - cartoony style

Diana Raffle | Comedy | Full-length | 3m, 5f

Short synopsis

Helen and Lionel Simpson are planning to divorce and instruct estate agent Simon Allcock to sell their house. Before doing so the unscrupulous Simon decides to use their property for a romantic liaison with his secretary. His plans however are complicated with the arrival of his hapless assistant Bernard; a seductive female doctor; Bernard’s very strange wife; and a flamboyant thespian, Miriam. Mayhem arises in this fast-paced comedy with missing clothes, mistaken identities, and a cow!

With divorce proceedings pending, Helen and Simon Simpson instruct estate agent, Simon Allcock to find a buyer for their house. Instead, the unscrupulous Simon decides to use their empty property for romantic assignation with his secretary, Felicity. His carefully laid plans are dashed though, by the arrival of his hapless assistant, Bernard, who really is trying to sell their house, followed by a seductive female doctor and Bernard's very strange wife, not to mention the formidable WI lady who collects unwanted clothes and runs the local amateur dramatics society.

Further complications arise when Helen returns unexpectedly to find a drunk Lionel, who has also returned thinking that Helen is still there and hoping to make up. Unfortunately, she finds Lionel to be in a steamy embrace with a reluctant and confused, Felicity, who (for various reasons) is wearing Helen’s clothes.

In the midst of all this a box of costumes for ‘Jack And The Beanstalk’ arrives, complete with a pantomime cow, which, due to a lot of missing clothes is pressed into use by Simon and Felicity. Mistaken identities, dropped and ripped-off trousers, doors opening and closing… and everything else you’d expect from a contemporary farce. Another brilliant fast-paced comedy from the writer of  ‘Fairway To Heaven’.

Frequently asked questions

Can we try before we buy?

Of course! All our plays and pantomimes have a free Preview Script available for download as an A4 pdf file that contains 60-75% of the full script. If you like what you read then you can buy an inexpensive e-script of the entire play (typically less than half the cost of a traditional printed script) which is licensed to you for your personal use. Purchasing a script copying licence allows you to make just enough copies to support rehearsals and performances.

All our musicals are included in our perusal service. Through this, representatives of producing organisations can request a USB Stick of perusal material  which comprise the script/libretto and piano/vocal score as PDF files; a Cast (or Studio) Recording as MP3 files and (where available) an MP4 file video of either the premiere production or of a subsequent production.

Some titles have the facility to read the entire script online on our website.

Do we need a Licence To Perform?

The simple answer is, yes.

Under the international laws of copyright, you must be in possession of a valid, unexpired licence before performing any piece of theatre unless the owner or managers of the copyright has waived their rights.

Why do you insist on providing a formal royalties quotation?

When you request a quotation, it is logged in our system, it forms part of an orderly queue and protects your place in that queue should multiple licensing requests occur for the same show.
