Not A Penny More!

Geoff Buckingham

Genre: Comedy

Cast size: 10

Duration: 45 - 50 mins approx

Geoff Buckingham | Comedy | One Act | 5m, 5f

Short synopsis

When a group of hapless ladies in Botchington-on-Sea decide to open a charity shop little did they know of the problems that would arise nor the previous use of the premises. But, with the help of a bumbling police constable they catch a serial murderer, they unearth a valuable treasure and they leave the local vicar dumbfounded as he assumes they are running a brothel with the help of his own wife!

This is the latest of the tales of Botchington, that have proved great fun for cast and audiences alike. And it could be the funniest of the lot!

When the hapless Dottie, Hilda and Myrtle decide to open a charity shop in Botchington-on-sea, to save ageing donkeys, little did they know of the problems that would arise nor that the premises had previously been used as a dubious massage parlour!

When the recently widowed Lady Sprockett donates some of her late husband's railway collection and clothing they discover a note that raises their suspicions that Lady Sprockett is a serial murderer. With the help of the bumbling local police constable they somehow capture her and her accomplice and discover that Lord Sprockett himself is alive and well!

Their financial problems are solved with the discovery that some of the donated train collector’s items are extremely valuable, and our police constable gets his long-awaited promotion.

Further twists are provided when we discover that the ageing Lord Sprockett is now dating Hilda's 18 year old niece and the play ends with the local moral-crusading vicar dumbfounded as he assumes they are running a brothel with his very own wife being the hooker!

Frequently asked questions

Can we try before we buy?

Of course! All our plays and pantomimes have a free Preview Script available for download as an A4 pdf file that contains 60-75% of the full script. If you like what you read then you can buy an inexpensive e-script of the entire play (typically less than half the cost of a traditional printed script) which is licensed to you for your personal use. Purchasing a script copying licence allows you to make just enough copies to support rehearsals and performances.

All our musicals are included in our perusal service. Through this, representatives of producing organisations can request a USB Stick of perusal material  which comprise the script/libretto and piano/vocal score as PDF files; a Cast (or Studio) Recording as MP3 files and (where available) an MP4 file video of either the premiere production or of a subsequent production.

Some titles have the facility to read the entire script online on our website.

Do we need a Licence To Perform?

The simple answer is, yes.

Under the international laws of copyright, you must be in possession of a valid, unexpired licence before performing any piece of theatre unless the owner or managers of the copyright has waived their rights.

Why do you insist on providing a formal royalties quotation?

When you request a quotation, it is logged in our system, it forms part of an orderly queue and protects your place in that queue should multiple licensing requests occur for the same show.
