Make Me Invisible

Bev Clark

Genre: Drama Young Cast

Cast size: 3 + large chorus

Duration: 40-45 mins approx

By Bev Clark| Drama | Youth | One Act | 2m, 1f +large ensemble

Short synopsis

From as far back as he can remember the Boy didn’t fit in. He thought the other kids hated him and his mum didn’t understand him. Everything was a struggle. All he wanted was to be invisible. Narrated by the Boy as his older self and his younger self, we see how he views his world of animal gangs and star filled skies. With themes of bullying, isolation and growing up, this is a large ensemble piece with elements of physical theatre for 8-18yr olds.

In the wilderness, in the Jungle – you are hunted. In the playground, in the classroom they are ready to attack.

Why you? You ask yourself a million times… but each time you look in the mirror you see yourself disappearing …until you are invisible! At least then they can’t see you.

One boy faces “the pack” as they move in for the kill but if only he could fly, rise above it all – could he be free? The boy, looks back on his schooldays of bullying and isolation and has to decide whether he can face the future, whatever it may hold.

The gangs of hyenas, ravens and monkeys who taunt him. The mice who try to help, the outsider tortoise who advises him - in his imagination the animals rule his world but in reality he is alone star-gazing wondering what his future might hold.

This poetic, physical piece examines why a young man may consider suicide: what drives him to it and how he might rise above it. A moment of choice – a time to grow up and face your destiny.

Frequently asked questions

Can we try before we buy?

Of course! All our plays and pantomimes have a free Preview Script available for download as an A4 pdf file that contains 60-75% of the full script. If you like what you read then you can buy an inexpensive e-script of the entire play (typically less than half the cost of a traditional printed script) which is licensed to you for your personal use. Purchasing a script copying licence allows you to make just enough copies to support rehearsals and performances.

All our musicals are included in our perusal service. Through this, representatives of producing organisations can request a USB Stick of perusal material  which comprise the script/libretto and piano/vocal score as PDF files; a Cast (or Studio) Recording as MP3 files and (where available) an MP4 file video of either the premiere production or of a subsequent production.

Some titles have the facility to read the entire script online on our website.

Do we need a Licence To Perform?

The simple answer is, yes.

Under the international laws of copyright, you must be in possession of a valid, unexpired licence before performing any piece of theatre unless the owner or managers of the copyright has waived their rights.

Why do you insist on providing a formal royalties quotation?

When you request a quotation, it is logged in our system, it forms part of an orderly queue and protects your place in that queue should multiple licensing requests occur for the same show.
